It’s hard to believe that The Big Romance is 10 years old. A game-changing album that married crafted, tender songwriting with the rhythms of dance music and hip-hop, it was released in 2001 and represented a fearless new sound that helped direct and embrace a new era of eclectic songwriting and production in Ireland and beyond.

David will be revisiting this, his second album, in it’s entirety on Friday 9th December at Dublin’s Vicar Street for a very special 10th anniversary concert and to celebrate the occasion we’ve made the album available digitally for the first time in many years. We’ve launched a new David Kitt store via bandcamp, which is where you’ll find The Big Romance, and we’re soon to add other albums from the catalogue. We’ve wanted to share this album for some time, but were keen to find a method that allowed for a high quality file download, and now we have. Bandcamp allows you to download and buy high quality WAV files, or the more usual mp3′s depending on your preference, and there’s no difference in cost. We’ve made the album available for just €5, and will be adding other albums for the same price, for the period in advance of the December 9th gig.

David’s in rehearsals for the December 9th gig but says he’s;

“really looking forward to revisiting The Big Romance on the 9th of december. It’ll be the first time for some of the songs to be performed live and no better place for it than Vicar St. There’ll also be a second set of songs from the other records and definitely an extended ‘headphones’ to end the night. I’ll be joined by paul g. smyth, richie egan, dave hingerty, robbie kitt and a few others yet to be confirmed. Bryan Quinn can’t make it unfortunately but he sends his regards. See y’all soon hopefully”
